Noah Vonleh deserves to start for the Knicks
Through the first three games of the 2018-19 NBA regular season, one thing has become apparent to me and that is that Noah Vonleh should be starting over Lance Thomas at the power forward position.
Thomas understandably was given the starting job to begin the season because of his leadership, but I think it’s time to let Vonleh start over him.
Thomas is a good player, but his offensive struggles are hurting the team due to the fact that he’s only connected on 20 percent of his shots so far this season. He’s also only has six total rebounds in 53 minutes of action.
In comparison, Vonleh has grabbed a whopping 29 rebounds in 49 minutes while connecting on 70 percent of his shots.
I know it’s been only three games but if this continues it will make more sense to let the 23 year-old former lottery pick in Vonleh start.
The Knicks are a young team and head coach David Fizdale has to go with his best players. Especially when one of them is a former lottery pick that seems to have found a new home in New York.
Not only should Vonleh start, but he deserves to get more minutes than Thomas going forward.
Thomas doesn’t have to start to be a leader, especially when a younger player is outplaying him.
