Turkey really hates Enes Kanter
We all know by now that the Turkish government would love to get their hands on New York Knicks’ center Enes Kanter given the fact that he’s been so outspoken against their current president.
Kanter went as far as to call Erdogan the Hitler of our century after being detained in a Romanian airport in 2017. His passport was then revoked.
News came out this week that Turkey would like to extradite Kanter because they believe he’s a part of a terror group.
Kanter responded on Twitter to the reports.
Kanter is safe as long as he stays in the United States, which is why he decided not to travel with the Knicks for their game in London against the Washington Wizards.
Michael McCann of SI.com says it’s very unlikely that Turkey will be able to extradite Kanter.
When it comes to Kanter’s NBA career, he’s lost his starting job a couple of times already this season and has been linked in trade rumors to other NBA teams.
Hopefully when Kanter’s career is over in the NBA there won’t be any problems with him staying in the U.S., since it’s obvious that he can never go back to Turkey.
