The Knicks will get better if they stay the course
Many New York Knicks’ fans don’t believe that head coach David Fizdale is doing a good job with the team only winning 10 games through the first half of the season.
They’re not only unhappy with the losing, but many also don’t believe that he’s been giving second-year point guard Frank Ntilikina a fair shake. They believe the Frenchman should be starting no matter what.
When it comes to Ntilikina, he needs to earn a starting spot, it can’t be given to hm. This is not high school ball, this is the NBA.
Then you have fans that don’t like the fact that Enes Kanter has been benched in favor of guys who are a part of the Knicks’ future plans.
The Knicks didn’t ask Kanter to pick up his player option last summer. I’m sure they have would have been happy with him leaving as a free agent. But the fact of the matter is that he doesn’t fit into Fizdale’s system and he will be gone either after the season or very soon with a buy out.
Of course with Kanter not playing and the Knicks going with a very young starting line-up and back up rotation, fans are not happy about the losing and don’t understand that it’s all a part of building something great.
Fizdale explained his thinking to the MSG Network. Check it out below.
In case you didn’t watch the video, Fizdale talked about how some of the best teams in the NBA right now like the Denver Nuggets had to go through the same things the Knicks are going through right now and they had to take their lumps in order to be great.
The thing that I love about the Knicks and the way Fizdale is coaching this team is how hard they play every game no matter what. They were extremely close to defeating the Houston Rockets and a red hot James Harden this past week. Not bad for a team that doesn’t have any superstars playing for them right now.
I understand that it’s hard for Knicks’ fans to trust the process, as the 76ers have said when it came to their own rebuilding, but right now everyone has to trust what Fizdale, Steve Mills and Scott Perry are doing.
The most important thing right now is that owner James Dolan has been staying out of things.
