Do the Knicks have a real shot at Anthony Davis?
It turns out that Davis’ trainer lives in New York and is working with rookie center Mitchell Robinson. I’m not sure if that’s enough for him to come and play for the Knicks, but it could help.
Without any surprise at all, the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to land Davis before next season and the Boston Celtics are second with the Knicks in third.
With the Celtics unable to trade for Davis right now because of the “Rose Rule,” the Lakers have the best odds to get a deal done before the trade deadline. Then I would imagine the Knicks come in at second.
I already came up with three trade packages that might help the Knicks get Davis.
I truly believe that New York will have to part with Kristaps Porzingis if they want Davis, But then again if KP makes it clear that he won’t sign a new contract with the Pelicans after his current contract runs out next season, New Orleans may not want him.
Right now it sounds like Davis wants to play for team that’s ready to contend for a title now, which could take the Knicks out the running for him. Unless he feels like playing in New York is worth and he could help attract another star to come and play in the Big Apple.
